About Zhongshan Grottoes

Carved into a cliff in Zichang, this Buddhist cave temple shelters a remarkable group of Northern Song-era stone statues, centred on a pillar covered with finely carved Buddhas. Far less crowded than China's most famous grottoes, it rewards close study.
