About Huaguo Mountain (Flower & Fruit Mountain) Tourism Area

Huaguo Mountain in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, is famously linked to the Monkey King Sun Wukong of the classic novel Journey to the West. Its forested peaks, waterfalls and caves, including Water Curtain Cave, draw fans of Chinese legend and nature lovers alike.

Highlights

Yunü Peak (624m, Jiangsu's highest point); Water Curtain Cave (birthplace of the Monkey King in Journey to the West); SanYuan Temple; 72 strange caves and wild macaque troops.

Suggested Route

Classic one-day route: Mountain Gate → JiuLong Bridge → SanYuan Temple → Water Curtain Cave → 72 Caves → South Heaven Gate → Yunü Peak; allow 4–6 hours, with shuttle buses available up the mountain.

Food & Lodging

Try Huaguo Mountain-style dried goose, small-fish pancakes and Lianyungang seafood in the city; eat at local houses such as Century Restaurant, stay in Haizhou district hotels.

Facilities

On-site shuttle buses, restrooms, luggage storage, wheelchair and stroller rental, parking and free WiFi; some stone steps are steep and can be slippery.
