About Qinghai Lake Tourism Area

China's largest inland saltwater lake, Qinghai Lake spreads at high altitude beneath the plateau sky, fringed by grassland and summer rapeseed fields and a magnet for migratory birds and cyclists.

Suggested Route

Enter at the Erlangjian scenic area for the lakeside boardwalk and boat ride, or cycle the ring road; allow half a day to a full day.

~150 km west of Xining; no metro; long-distance bus from Xining (~3 h) or drive; nearest airport Xining Caojiabao (~200 km).
