About Changbai Mountain Tourism Area

Straddling the China-North Korea border, Changbai Mountain shelters a volcanic crater lake of brilliant blue, Tianchi, on its summit. Dense primeval forests, hot springs and cascades surround Asia's highest crater lake on the Chinese side.

Suggested Route

Take the shuttle up the north slope to the Tianchi viewing point, then the hot springs and waterfall; allow half a day. Weather-dependent.

Getting There

North slope: HSR to Changbai Mountain Station (Baishan-Changbai HSR line) then shuttle to Erdaobaihe (~30 km); West slope: near Changbai Mountain Airport (Songjianghe). Nearest airports: Changbai Mountain Airport (~40 km, west slope) or Yanji Chaoyangchuan (~200 km, north slope).

Reservation

Real-name, timed-entry reservation required (book up to 7 days ahead) via official WeChat 'Changbai Mountain' / 'Changbai Mountain One-Trip' mini-program; no on-site tickets when online sold out.
