About Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve

Daocheng Yading, on the high Tibetan plateau of western Sichuan, is a sanctuary of snow peaks, alpine lakes and grasslands, sometimes called the 'last Shangri-La'. Three sacred summits and turquoise lakes draw trekkers from around the world.

Sacred snow peaks (Chenresig, Jambeyang, Chanadorje); the milk-blue lakes (Five-Color Lake, Milk Lake); meadows and Tibetan-plateau scenery.

Suggested Route

Enter at Daocheng, take the long shuttle to the core area, hike to Milk Lake / Five-Color Lake via the long boardwalk; allow 1-2 days.

Food & Lodging

Tibetan yak beef and butter tea; stay in Shangri-La town (Aden) or Daocheng county.

Facilities

Long-distance shuttles, boardwalks, restrooms and oxygen; very high altitude - strong altitude caution.
