About Huangcheng Xiangfu

Huangcheng Xiangfu is the former residence of Chen Tingjing, a prominent Qing dynasty prime minister who served as the emperor's tutor. This well-preserved complex of courtyard houses, gardens, and defensive walls showcases the architecture and lifestyle of a high-ranking Qing official in Shanxi.

Highlights

The grand fortified residence of the Qing scholar Chen Tingjing; highlights include the castle-like inner and outer castles, the Heshan Building (defensive tower), and the classical gardens. Combines official, military, and residential architecture.

Suggested Route

Enter the castle, tour the main halls, the Heshan Tower, and the gardens; allow 2-3 hours.
