About Jinfo Mountain Tourism Area

Jinfo Mountain, a World Heritage karst massif in southern Chongqing, shelters rare plants and a maze of limestone caves. Its trails climb past pine-clad ridges to a summit with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain sea.

Highlights

Karst table mountain with ancient wild ginkgo forest; rare plants and wildlife (including the living-fossil Cathaya argyrophylla); sea of clouds, rhododendrons and a cool summer / ice-snow winter.

Suggested Route

Enter at the North or South Gate; ride the cable car to the summit, visit the Ancient Ginkgo Forest and the Cliff Walk; allow half a day to a full day.

Food & Lodging

Try Nanchuan shredded bamboo shoots and mountain wild herbs; stay in Chongqing city or in mountain resorts/hotels near the gate.

Facilities

Cable cars, sightseeing buses, parking and restrooms; step-free access is limited on the cliff trails. Note the high altitude.

No metro; ~75 km from central Chongqing (Chongqing North & Chongqing West HSR stations); ~110 km from Chongqing Jiangbei Int'l Airport. Coach from Chongqing to Nanchuan then local shuttle.
