About Suzhou Taihu Lake Tourism Area

On the eastern shore of Lake Taihu, one of China's largest lakes, this scenic area near Suzhou blends classic garden towns, fishing villages and hillsides of tea plantations. Island hopping and lake cruises frame views that have inspired painters for centuries.

Highlights

Dongshan peninsula (Luxiang ancient village, Qiyuan garden), Qionglong Mountain (Suzhou's highest peak), Wangshan village, Sanshan Island and Taihu lakeside wetland park.

Suggested Route

Three-area tour over 2-3 days, or one area per day; combined ticket about 160 CNY; tourist shuttle bus links the visitor center to each spot.

Food & Lodging

Eat Taihu three whites, Biluochun tea and farmhouse dishes; lakeside resort hotels and B&Bs are plentiful around the lake.

Facilities

Parking, tourist shuttle buses (Dongshan line), restrooms and some wheelchair access at major spots; spots are spread out so a car is recommended (unverified).
