About Kanas Lake Tourism Area

Kanas is a glacier-fed emerald lake set in the forested Altai Mountains of Xinjiang, famous for its 'lake monster' legends and autumn birch colors. Tuva villages and the scenic Three Bays add to its wild beauty.

In Burqin County, Altay; access via Jiadenyu ticket station (~230 km from Burqin); fly to Kanas Airport (seasonal) or drive from Urumqi (~800 km); nearest HSR none.

Reservation

Advance online booking via official WeChat 'Kanas Scenic Area' / Yuanxing booking site; as of 2025 no mandatory reservation but timed entry; real-name.
